EXCLUSIVE
INTERVIEW by SCOOTERTOUR.NL
Sheffield Jumpers, Who are you? Tell us something about
yourselves…
We are the Sheffield Jumpers. We
are a group of friends who are making a lot of fun together. We
are from 010 (Rotterdam, the Netherlands) Some of us are still
going to school.
Kevin en Sergej are full-time
jumpers…
How did you came up with the name
Sheffield Jumpers?
During performances with Scooter
we were called the Scooter Jumpers. It's a cool name when you
are on tour with Scooter, but now, a few months later we have
our own single and we can do our own thing. So, if we have
Scooter Jumpers as a name maybe there is going to be some
confusion. Can you imagine it already? Live on stage: SCOOTER
jumpers.
That's why we searched for a new
name. It was H.P. who came with the idea to give ourselves the
name; “Sheffield Jumpers”. Actually, the last sentence was the
answer, but hey, otherwise the interview is going to be over so
quickly :)
How did Scooter & the Jumpers met each other?/ How did you came
in contact with Scooter as a Support Act?
After
the first video of The Question Is What Is The Question,
Scooter promoted their single at the German TV programme
“Fernsehgarten” on ZDF. Before that performance Scooter
wanted to have the Jumpers on stage because they liked our
appearance and so they asked us. After that certain show we
never left their side and we now are present at the most of the
gigs.
Before your first assignment The Question Is What Is The
Question, did you had any idea about the career & success of
Scooter in Europe?
“Scooter, isn't that the blond singer from Germany?....
Haha, just kidding. We knew about the success… Everyone knew
something about it. Otherwise, the first answer we gave to this
question is the answer that we always get if we tell other
people from the Netherlands that we are on tour with Scooter,
but everybody knows SCOOTER.
Which video shoot did you guys liked the most to do and why?
That’s different for everyone of
us, especially because not everyone performed in all the videos.
Some of us only performed ones in a video or not at all. But the
video Jumping All Over The World is standing high in our
list and off course also The Question Is What Is The Question
because that's when it all started. And No Matches was
also very cool, but that took very much time, until 2 o'clock at
night. Or I’m Lonely during the UK Tour and Jump That
Rock together with Status Quo.
But
you know what? We choose them all…..
Which location / gig has been your personal climax?
You know, almost every gig has
been a climax, or actually, very special. That’s a better
description. The first performance with the band at
Fernsehgarten was very extraordinary but also the Live
broadcasting of Berlin, the gigs in the USA and recently the
concert in Bochum.
Each performance is cool and bizar and that’s why they are all
special.
It’s a shame that there are so many of them that we often forget
them. Sometimes we don’t have any clue in which country, city or
venue the gig was. But other than that, we do enjoy every moment
of it if we are there.
What do you think about the Scooter fans
Strange people… weird human
beings.
Haha, no, we seriously and honestly love them!
It feels like we came into one big family, or better, we gained
a family… the Scooter family.
We respect every fan, even if we have met them or not. Maybe
they are never going to visit a concert but the positively
fanatical way of the fans on the internet, in forums and during
concerts is indescribable. Big and deep respect.
But some fans are really a bit strange… Although, aren’t we all
a bit strange?
What are your favorite Scooter
tracks?
That's a difficult choice.
We have a lot of favorite tracks.
Especially the tracks from the latest album because we have a
personal connection with it. But at the top you can find The
Question, Nessaja, Maria, Shake That and Hyper Hyper. Oh,
and also Vallee De Larmes, add this one to the list as
well.
What is the weirdest thing you have ever experienced
before/during/after a gig?
So many strange things happen.
Life is weird. One time, during the Euro2008 Holland had to play
against France en we performed in…??!
Offenbach??
That’s what we mean… euh…Anyway, we arrived and watched
some of the game in a haste. During the game the whole German
audience wanted the Dutch team to win and yelled every time
during the scores. Or that time that Kevin’s glasses where
broken and walked into the ladies dressing room without glasses
because he didn’t recognize the sign on the door. Or that time
that… ow… never mind. “What Happens On The Tour, Stays On The
Tour…..”
What are your favorite artists in
the dj
scene
Ruthless, Looney Tunez, GJ Warez
and Cliff Jones!
What are you doing if you are not working for Scooter
[school/other artists/hobbies?]
Some of us are still in school
and have to do their homework, haha…
But other than that we are busy with music ourselves like
producing and stuff like that. And we all like the game soccer.
Some of us have a girlfriend and they also need a form of
attention sometimes. It’s hard enough for our girlfriends if we
are on tour a lot.
Which Scooter member can Jump the best?
Michael, he never jumps!!!
Haha
No I'm not being serious. Let's say that they, like us, have
their own way of jumping.
Do you invent all your own Jumps on certain tracks
Yes, all by ourselves.
At least, when we see some kind of cool move we try that move
ourself or convert it to our own special move.
Who came up with the idea to use guitars during the Jump That
Rock performance?
Rick. It was during the rehearsal
of the show, a day before the first Jumping All Over The
World Tour concert. Rick came with 4 guitars and told us
that it would be fun if we were going use them during the track.
And then we quickly had to practice because these accords aren’t
easy to master. And after that it was like; go for it!
The Jumpstyle battle on the
Jumpstyle Medley of the JAOTW Tour looks fantastic. Was it a
spontaneous act or did you had to practice a lot?
We
spontaneously practiced it.
How do you prepare yourselves before a gig?
We are going max!
We have a drink, relax, listen to music and we make some fun.
Most of the time we sit together with the band in the dressing
room. HP plays some music before a gig. He plays his music very
loud, so we can’t talk anymore but his taste is very good so
it’s ok. During the UK-tour we went crazy on the track Jump
That Rock. During the Germany tour it was mostly the
3-tagen Remix. We have a warming up for sure. And a few
minutes before the show when we are waiting while the intro is
playing we give each other a 'high five'.
What's the thing you do a few minutes after a gig?
Different kind of things. We go back to our dressing room en
relax a couple of minutes. But that’s for a very short while. We
usually go to the band and talk a little about the show en have
fun, sometimes till early in the morning. Then we aren't in the
dressing-room anymore of course, but usually in some kind of
club.
What can we expect from the Sheffield Jumpers in the near
future?
A Sheffield Jumpers DVD, a
Sheffield Jumpers album, a Sheffield Jumpers pyjama, a Sheffield
Jumpers sausage, Sheffield Jumpers cake, Sheffield Jumpers
custard and a Sheffield Jumpers Stadium tour. But that’s not for
sure. Yeah, what are we going to expect? What do we expect from
ourselves? What do you expect?
Time will tell…..
Did
we forget a question?
No
Do you have something to add at
the end of this interview?
Yes! We would like to thank all
the people who support us. All the (Scooter) fans who accepted
us, websites like SCOOTERTOUR.NL but also our friends from
Jumpstyle-Germany.eu. And all the people from Kontor Records.
And we can go on but every person who support us, THANK YOU, and
we hope to believe in our dream for a while!!
